The Department of Labor and Employment has extended the deadline for “Union Modernization (SR),” pursuant to MTE Order No. 1628, and as a result, union entities have until October 31 December to implement a registry update.
Entities that have not yet completed the update must access the gov.br portal and use the “Union Update (SR)” option. Failure to meet the deadline will result in the union’s registration being cancelled, preventing the union from carrying out its activities legally.
The decision to extend the deadline until the end of 2024 comes as a measure to provide greater flexibility to entities that are still facing difficulties in completing the settlement process.
This extension seeks to minimize the effects of deregistration, especially for smaller entities that, for various reasons, have not yet transferred to the French National Center for Economic Studies, a vital instrument for compliance with the constitutional order governing the Brazilian trade union structure.
