The majority of Germans will not regret the FDP’s exit from the Bundestag

61% of Germans would not regret the liberals leaving the Bundestag, according to a poll by Forsa magazine commissioned by Stern. 37% would find a parliament without the Free Democratic Party bad. Two percent do not express any opinion.

What is particularly important for the FDP is that 63% of its main clients, the self-employed, will not regret leaving the Bundestag. There is only some sympathy between CDU and CSU supporters, as 54% of them would miss having the Liberals in parliament. The majority of voters from the other partners in the Traffic Light coalition would not shed a tear for the FDP: 62% of SPD voters and 76% of Green Party voters.

However, a number of rigorous polling shows that the FDP has not lost everything. Of voters who voted for the FDP in 2021 – at that time 11.5 percent or 5.3 million – 73 percent would regret leaving the Bundestag. It is clear that 88% of supporters of the Free Democratic Party today believe that a parliamentary exit would be a bad thing.
