The Ministry of Infrastructure explains that the Ministry of Finance has suspended all expenditure in order to reduce the deficit, which is already a record. – We also cannot use the KPO, because applications for KPO funding had to be approved 2 years in advance. If the government at the time, like the Spanish one, had thought about industry, we would have had the opportunity to benefit from these funds, says Jan Buczek, president of the Association of International Road Transport Operators.
Prices are rising
Buczek adds that business owners are demanding financing because, after almost two difficult years, they do not have the money to replace the equipment. – Due to the poor financial situation, many carriers have postponed the change until the last minute and now it may be difficult. We have a limited number of workshops to accommodate all interested parties until the end of this year. And a sudden increase in demand for CTs may increase the prices of these devices – Maciej Wroński, president of the Employers’ Association of Transport Logistics Poland, is scared.
The Ministry of Infrastructure has estimated the cost of replacing digital tachographs with the G2V2 version on more than a quarter of a million trucks at PLN 1.75 billion. – Customers are increasingly interested, but they still do not arrive in time for the surgery. The devices have been replaced in 10% of the fleet – estimates Michał Cieślak from Eurotach, the representative of tachograph manufacturer Stoneridge Electronics in Poland.
He admits that currency prices will rise. – Now you have to pay PLN 5,000 for the installation (including the tachograph). PLN, and in May and June it could be done for PLN 3-3.5 thousand. zloty. In addition, there is a shortage of tachographs. Importers have not ordered larger quantities because no one wanted to pay for it. It will take a month or two for the market to take off. In November, availability will improve, but demand is also expected to increase, so the market may not be balanced by the end of the year, Cieślak predicts.
