Producer Sunil Bohra and writer Akhilesh Jaiswal who are known for their work Gangs of Wasseypurhave once again joined the upcoming web series Badshah of Begusarai. The new show will be set in the “raw and gritty landscape of Bihar,” ANI reported. The gangster drama follows the life of a strong, complex character described as the ‘Pablo Escobar of Bihar’. Badshah of Begusarai is planned for production at the beginning of 2025.
“The excitement of returning to a world reminiscent of Gangs of Wasseypur is palpable and a similar mix of excitement and anticipation drives this collaboration. The team aims to create a groundbreaking and unforgettable experience by capturing the essence of the criminal underworld even more powerfully,” Sunil Bohra told ANI.
Echoing Bohra’s sentiments, Akhilesh Jaiswal added, “I’m excited to dive back into this familiar yet ever-evolving space. This project allows me to explore a world and a character that is both dark and deep-rooted, yet complex and unique. The layers of this story are packed.” depth and intrigue, making this journey both challenging and exhilarating.”
Badshah of Begusaraithe announcement coincides with the release of a new theatrical production of Sunil and Akhilesh’s previous collaboration, Gangs of Wasseypur. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the two-part film returned to theaters on August 30. The film will run for a week and will end its theatrical run on September 5.
Gangs of Wasseypur the plot focuses on the coal mining mafia. The film stars Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Tripathi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Huma Qureshi, Richa Chadha, Rajkummar Rao and Piyush Mishra.
Anurag Kashyap announced the re-release Gangs of Wasseypur With an Instagram post. Sharing the official posters of the films, the filmmaker wrote, “In three days the Gang will be back again..GOW back in cinemas.”
