The deadline for network X to prove its representation in Brazil ends this Friday (20)

The Federal Supreme Court reported that the deadline given by Minister Alexandre de Moraes to the social network X to prove the legality of the new legal representation established in Brazil expired at 21:29 this Friday (20). The decision came after the network informed the Supreme Court that lawyers André Zonaro Giacchetta and Sérgio Rosenthal would represent the company. The minister asked the company to send registration documents to the Commercial Council and prove the appointment of these professionals to officially represent it.

In another decision taken this Thursday (19), Moraes was also fined XR$5 million. The move comes after the company evaded a decision to suspend the network last month. The scam occurred by changing the company’s IP address.

The suspension of the social network was determined after the expiration of the 24-hour deadline given by the minister to billionaire Elon Musk, the owner of the social network, to appoint legal representation in Brazil. The decision was confirmed by the First Panel of Judges.

On August 17, Musk announced the closure of the company’s headquarters in Brazil, after the social network was fined for refusing to comply with an order to delete the profiles of people being investigated by the Court for publishing messages deemed anti-democratic..
