the essential
A couple pretended to be insolvent for years while receiving Social Security. They actually had a fortune estimated at several million euros.

The amount of tax fraud committed by a Swiss couple is extraordinary. According to local media Blikan investigation by the judicial police in Bern made it possible to catch false declarations from 2009 to 2023. A period of time during which this extremely wealthy couple accumulated debts without ever paying them off because they declared themselves penniless.

17 million euros of fraud

Declarations entitling them to social minimum and other additional benefits… But the reality was completely different: during the search, the police seized several cars, luxury bags, fur coats, fine wines, golf equipment and overdraft, well-filled bank accounts . So many elements that made the broken couple scenario absurd.

According to the authorities, the fraud amounted to nearly 17 million euros. The dream life must come to an end for the two suspects, who are said to have hid their condition in Liechtenstein and refused to plead guilty.
