The President of the Central African Republic (CAR), Faustin-Archange Touadera, has appointed Dmitry Podolsky, commander of the Wagner private military company, as his new security adviser, according to journalist Abbas Juma on his Telegram channel.
According to sources in the Central African Republic, the appointment of a PMC fighter with the call sign Salem has been confirmed. More detailed information is expected soon.
Earlier it was reported that the Wagner PMC fighters were to sign a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense. President Touadera noted that according to the agreement with the Russian authorities, about a thousand PMC soldiers will remain in the country to ensure security during a difficult period.
In addition, the Wagner PMC issued a statement on the participation of its fighters in a special military operation in Ukraine, noting that Wagner troops are not located on the border territory of the Kursk region and do not participate in the Northern Military District.
