Whether you find cleaning your home satisfying or loathing, you can’t deny that it can be time-consuming.
And because of this, there are certain tasks that can be neglected, sometimes for months at a time.
But now one social media expert has lifted the lid on something you probably forget to do at home — and should actually be done once a week for best results.
Fortunately, though, it’s very simple and only requires a few products that you probably already have in your closet.
The hack was shared on TikTok by Kaye Marie, a cleaning influencer who has over 431,000 loyal followers for her easy-to-follow tips and advice for a clean and organized home.
He has issued a stark reminder that your hairbrushes need constant cleaning to prevent hair from becoming greasy.
However, she admitted that it wasn’t always something she remembered to do – but it’s very important if you want to keep your brushes free of hair, dirt and bacteria.
Ideally, he says, you should aim to do this once a week for best results. And luckily, it’s not a complicated job either, and doesn’t require a lot of effort.
She said: “If your hair feels a lot greasier than usual and you have to wash it more, it’s probably because your hairbrush is dirty and you need to clean it.”
First, grab a tail comb and use it to pick up the hairs that have accumulated on your mane, as this will help clean it well.
Then fill the basin or sink with warm water and add your brush in, making sure the brush side is in the water.
Add a good splash of white vinegar and fill the pot with boiling water for an extra good clean. Kaye said: “This helps get rid of all the nagging.
“Then add your shampoo of choice. People say you’re adding a clarifying shampoo, but honestly, you don’t need it. The shampoo makes sure all the bristles are clean on the brush, and it also helps loosen all the hair.”
