Bayer Leverkusen not only did not suffer a single defeat in the league last season, but also toppled Bayern Munich, namely achieving something that had seemed an impossible mission in Germany for more than a decade.
The Bavarian team suffered humiliation, so they entered the new season with double motivation. They won all six games – in the Bundesliga, German Cup and Champions League. They scored a total of 29 goals, becoming the first team to score nine goals in one Champions League match (9-2 against Dinamo Zagreb in the competition’s inaugural).
Bayern’s new coach. Vincent Kompany as Carlo Ancelotti
Under the leadership of new coach Vincent Kompany, they are playing charmingly, but have not faced rivals as strong as Bayer. Statisticians calculate that the Belgian is the first coach since Carlo Ancelotti (2016/2017 season) to start his career at Bayern with four league wins.
The coach has changed in Munich, but Harry Kane remains the top scorer. The English player has scored ten goals in all competitions.
