A year and a half after entering the judicial recovery process, Sport was again targeted for tax confiscation. In a decision signed by judge Roberta Walmsley Porto de Barros, of the 33rd Federal Court, the Ilha do Retiro complex, valued at R$ 400 million, will be put up for auction. Public auctions are scheduled to take place on October 1 and 10 respectively.

According to Gustavo Matos, the lawyer handling the case, in the judicial restoration the essence of the Ilha do Retiro complex for the preservation of the activities carried out by Sport has been recognized and stated, and is therefore no longer active. to the Tax Execution Court to decide on the release of the assets.
The lawyer also highlighted that the club remained current on the payment of tax transactions, understanding that there was clear merit in the decision determining the sale of the club’s main asset due to the small debt compared to its assessed value.
