A 15-year-old teenager drowned in one of the swimming pools in Deodoro Radical Park, North Zone of Rio, on Tuesday afternoon (24).

According to eyewitnesses, the boy entered the pool at around 4 p.m. and was sucked up by the equipment’s pump.

The Fire Department reported that soldiers from the Campinho and Ricardo de Albuquerque barracks were called to the scene at 8:42 p.m., but the teenager was already dead.

In a statement, Rio City Hall regretted the deaths and said the boys had invaded the venue after it was closed. The pool pump was turned off at 5:30 p.m., the city hall said.

The teenager’s body was sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in Campo Grande.

The Civil Police reported that they are investigating the death of the boy. The case has been registered in the 33rd DP (Realengo).
