A teacher at a school in Méier, in Rio de Janeiro, tied one of her students with tape to stop him from getting up. Images from a security camera that the 5-year-old boy’s parents had access to show the teacher’s actions (see the video below).

The incident occurred at a bilingual school in May this year, but the situation only came to light this week. In an interview with SBT, the child’s mother, Amanda Bispo de Souza, said she had contacted the school to seek compensation.

“The school just sent out the minutes of the previous day’s meeting and gave the teacher a verbal and informal warning. That was it,” he told the network. “The least the school could do is fire the teacher.”

The picture shows the moment when the teacher uses adhesive tape to stick the child to the chair. It is at this moment that the other children notice and laugh. Shortly after, the boy manages to free himself with the help of his other friends.

The student’s parents, angered by the situation, sued the school and asked for compensation for moral damages.
