STF issues threats against Elon Musk’s Alexandre de Moraes

The STF attached a threat from billionaire Elon Musk, owner of X (formerly Twitter), to minister Alexandre de Moraes in the investigation into the social network. In a post on X last month, Musk threatened Moraes with arrest after the platform was subpoenaed by the STF.

“One day, Alexandre de Moraes, your prison photo will be real. Mark my words,” Musk wrote, directly above an image of a bald man wearing a toga in a prison cell. In addition to the STF post, the X owner also shared an image of toilet paper with the name “Alexandre” written on it, in addition to accusing Moraes of “breaking the law.”

OX has been suspended in Brazil by order of Moraes for a month. In a decree signed the day after Musk’s insult, the STF minister confirmed that X had not appointed legal representation in Brazil, in addition to refusing to pay the fine imposed by the Supreme Court. Moraes also mentioned “an environment of total impunity and a ‘lawless land’ in Brazilian social networks”.

On the 20th, X stepped down and appointed a lawyer as legal counsel. The minister requested new information from the platform, which is still offline in the country.
