Bartosz Zmarzlik won the Grand Prix of Toruń, which ended the MotoGP World Championship series for the year. The Polish won his fifth title in his career two weeks ago.
The competition in Toruń did not start off ideally for Zmarzlik who would claim World Championship gold for the fifth time after the tournament. In his first three appearances, the Pole earned one point each. But he then added three and two points for eight points, finishing eighth in the semi-finals.
In the semi-finals, the world champion took second place, because Briton Daniel Pioli showed a great charge over the distance.
In the final, Zmarzlik showed real form and won the 26th GP Championship. The second place went to the Dane, Leon Madsen, who fought bravely with the Pole for a long time, while the third place went to the Briton, Daniel Pioli.
In the general classification, Zmarzlik eventually beat Briton Robert Lambert by 35 points, and Swede Frederik Lindgren by three points.
The next three places that grant the right to participate in the World Championship next year were obtained by Briton Daniel Pioli, Slovakian Martin Vaculic, and Australian Jack Holder.
