An investigation is underway into the excavation of landfills in Jelenia Góra, which resulted in the flooding of several streets. The Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating who is responsible for the excavation carried out on Sunday with an excavator.
As prosecutor Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska told the RMF FM reporter, At this stage, the police, commissioned by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, examined the ditch.

Most likely, the excavation of the landfill surface was carried out to redirect the water accumulated in one of the recreational centers of Cieplice – to nearby streets and residential buildings – said the prosecutor.
Węglarowicz-Makowska added that There are two people injured so far, but there will definitely be more..
After the embankment rupture, this water spilled onto Lubańska, Dworcowa and Sobieszowska streets and the residential areas located between these streets. – informed the prosecutor.
The investigation was initiated based on an article of the Criminal Code which states that the perpetrator caused a threat to the health and lives of many people and property on a large scale. This is punishable by 10 years in prison.
