Fine for eating and smoking in the car
According to art. Section 63 5 Traffic LawsThe driver of a motor vehicle transporting a person is prohibited from smoking or eating food while driving.
This provision states: “The driver of a motor vehicle carrying a person is prohibited from smoking or eating while driving. This does not apply to the driver of a truck carrying a person in the driver’s cabin, and to the driver of a passenger car, with the exception of a taxi.”
This ban covers a wide range of drivers, including people who drive buses, minibuses, taxis and motorcycles. The fine for violating the ban when driving public transport is: 50 PLN. If the case is taken to court, the driver could be fined up to PLN 3,000. According to art. 97 of the Code of Petty CrimesRoad users who violate regulations regarding the transportation of people are subject to a fine of up to PLN 3,000 or a reprimand.
When will we not be able to get a ticket to eat in the car?
It is worth noting that this prohibition only applies to situations in which the driver is transporting another person. If the driver is traveling alone, he or she may legally eat and smoke. This provision also does not apply to truck drivers who transport passengers in the cabin. In the case of passenger cars, the prohibition only applies if the vehicle is a taxi.
