Sikorski and the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry on scenarios for ending the war in Ukraine

During the ongoing UN high-level week, China and Brazil sought to revive their six-point peace plan published in May to end the war in Ukraine.

In Tuesday’s speech to the Security Council Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that China “stands for peace” and supports a solution that respects Ukraine’s territorial integrity and Russia’s “legitimate security interests.”.

As reported by the South China Morning Post, on Friday the two countries will host a special conference devoted to the plan, and so far at least 20 countries have announced their attendance, including: Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Egypt and Vietnam.

The head of the Foreign Ministry, Radosław Sikorski, said on Tuesday that his counterpart’s statement from the PRC is “interesting” and potentially something to consider, and it is “worth listening to” by China because it is a great power.

He also assessed that China could not only act as a mediator in conflicts, but even act as a mediator forcing Russia to end its aggression.

Apart from meeting with Wang, the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also held talks with the foreign ministers of Iran and Morocco. Together with the first, he discussed the topic of “weapon exports” to Russia, as well as conflicts in the Middle East.
