At least seven people injured in an accident involving three vehicles on Avenida Pedro II, in the Carlos Prates neighborhood, in the Northwest Region of Belo Horizonte, in the morning This week (22). The accident happened during the race that should have been (split) between two drivers, according to witness reports.
According to the Fire Department, the accident involved an i30, an Argo and a Fiesta. The driver of the Fiesta reported that, while crossing Avenida Pedro II, after going down Rua Lunardi with the traffic light open, he saw that the drivers of the i30 and the Argo were in pairs, betting on a race.
One of the vehicles collided with the Fiesta, throwing it into another lane. Then, the i30 and Argo collided with each other, and the Argo even hit a tree.
In the Argo, four people were injured, two men and two women, who were taken to the João XXIII Emergency Hospital. The Fiesta passenger suffered a leg injury, but the driver was unharmed.
In the i30, there was a man and a woman who fled the scene. According to witnesses, both showed signs of being drunk and threw away bottles of alcohol before fleeing. They were also injured.
Military Police were called in and are investigating the involvement of both drivers in a possible “split” that caused the crash.
