September 2024 – Days off
The September calendar of each year does not provide for holidays according to the Holidays Act. The days off in September are Sundays and one additional day resulting from the principle of an average 5-day working week. This is usually Saturday. Counting all weekends, There are 9 days off in September – 4 Saturdays and 5 Sundays.
September 2024 – working days
September has 30 days. 9 of them are days off. So it remains 21 business days: 5 Mondays and every other Monday after 4.
Working hours in September 2024
Since there are 21 working days in September 2024, then there are 168 hours of work. This is the most common number of working hours per month. Apart from September, we work the same amount in the following months:
- January
- February
- March
- April
- August
This year we will work less in November – 152 hours, and we will work more in July – 184 hours, and we will work the same amount in October. See: Working hours 2024
How to calculate the number of working hours in September? According to art. 130 § 1º and 2º of the Labor Code, three steps must be followed:
- MULTIPLICATION – 40 hours x number of complete weeks in a month;
- SUM – result obtained + product of 8 hours by the number of working days remaining in the month;
- DIFFERENCE – result obtained – the product of 8 hours by the number of holidays that occurred on a day other than Sunday in the month.
Example
Step 1 – September 2024 has 4 full weeks, i.e. 40 x 4 = 160
Step 2 – and one additional business day, so 8×1 + 160 = 168
Step 3 – there is no holiday that falls on a day other than Sunday
Result – In September 2024, there are 168 hours of work.
