The Polish Paralympic team that went to Paris is made up of 43 men and 41 women. They will fight for places on the podium in 15 of the 22 disciplines.
Prizes will be paid by the Ministry of Sports
There are up to 549 sets of medals to earn. Each of them has its own specific financial value.
The Ministry of Sports will pay PLN 100 thousand for each gold medal, PLN 70 thousand for silver and PLN 55 thousand for bronze. It doesn’t end there. The ministry, headed by Sławomir Nitras, will pay a scholarship to every Paralympic athlete who stands on the podium in Paris over two years. Its amount will range from PLN 12,427 to PLN 15,222 per month, and the final amount will be determined by the color of the medal.
In Tokyo, the Poles won 24 medals
A podium finish at the Paralympics also means the right to receive an Olympic pension. The state pays it after the medalist turns 40. It is currently PLN 4,203.
At the previous Paralympic Games, held in Tokyo three years ago, our athletes won 24 medals.
