A woman has shared an easy way to save money on household essentials, and it only takes one item you already have at home.
We’re all looking for ways to cut costs, and the supermarket can be a great place to start. Some people like to buy in bulk to minimize their spending over time, while others are savvy with deals and coupons.
Now, TikTok user Chloe’s Deal Club (@chloesdealclub) has revealed how she keeps her hand soap costs to a minimum. In the video, which has more than 78,000 views, he said: “This super easy hack will save you money. Now this hand wash is 69p and that’s because the bottle already has a pump.”
He continued: “But this bottom shelf hand wash with no pump is only 55p. So you’re saving 14p, not huge but every little bit helps.
“Then when you take this home, if you already have hand soap, pop the pump in.”
Chloe used Aldi’s Lacura beauty range to illustrate the price difference, and the brand has often been praised for affordable hygiene products. Shoppers can also pick up a range of shampoos and conditioners for as little as 79p, and moisturisers and face washes are also available cheaply from the budget store.
You can buy soap refills from supermarkets like Tesco, which are often cheaper than buying a fresh bottle. A one liter refill of Carex original hand wash costs £3.30, which is 33p per 100ml.
A 250ml bottle, on the other hand, will set you back £1.50 or 60p per 100ml. Although it’s a small savings, over time the pennies can really add up.
The same is true at Sainsbury’s, where a refill of the same hand sanitizer also costs 33p/100ml. A liter refill pouch of the supermarket’s own brand antibacterial hand wash is even gentler on the wallet, priced at just £2.60 or 26p per 100ml.
Other savvy shoppers opt for bar soaps because they tend to last longer than liquid hand wash. Sainsbury’s offers tea bar soap for 75p or 60p/100g.
