Sanya Malhotra attended the screening of her film Mrs at the Melbourne Indian Film Festival on Friday. The actor was moved to tears as he received a standing ovation for his role in the film. Sharing a moment video on Instagram, Sanya wrote, “I want to thank you all for the incredible response and standing ovation we got for ‘Mrs’ last night at the Indian Film Festival Melbourne. Your support means the world to us. This film is a labor of love and we are thrilled. Thank you so much.” to my amazing team – this would not have been possible without your talent and dedication the film is now releasing in India.” While replying to the post, Tahira Kashyap dropped red hearts. Abhimanyu Dasani and Triptii Dimri followed behind.

After the show, Sanya Malhotra opened up about the preparation process Mrsreported India Today. The actor mentioned that he got help from a close friend and met several women who shared their experiences with him. She said: “She (Sanya’s friend) kindly shared her therapy notes, which I read almost every day and felt both anger and sadness because I was very close to her. It saddens me to know that some women are going through this and have accepted it and given up on their dreams, and they want to.”

Sanya Malhotra wore a prom designed by her mother Renu Malhotra. Along with the OOTN photos, Sanya wrote, “This is for you mom. My mom was my personal stylist from a young age, designing and sewing clothes for my sister and I. She dedicated herself to not only raising us but also keeping us fashionably up to date.”

She continued: “Mum always told me how she dreamed of studying fashion, but it wasn’t financially possible at the time. Instead, she used all her creativity to dress us beautifully – so much so that I still ask her for advice before bigger things. I wanted to honor her by wearing one of his creations at the Melbourne Film Festival of India at the launch of a film close to my heart.

Mrs is a remake of the Malayalam film, Great Indian cuisine. The movie is directed by Arati Kadav.
