The iconic film Sholay written by the legendary writer duo Salim-Javed will have a special screening in Mumbai. The film’s re-release celebrates the magic of Salim-Javed. The official Instagram handle of Tiger Baby Films released an official announcement about the release of Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay on Wednesday. “Celebrate Salim-Javed magic 50 years later Kerran Sholay screening in cinemas this Saturday 31st August! Bookings open tomorrow,” the post read.

The special screening of Sholay will be held at Regal Cinema, Mumbai on August 31.
Sholay director Ramesh Sippy and screenwriters Salim-Javed will participate in the screening. Sholay revolves around the village of Ramgarh, where retired police chief Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar) plots to bring down the notorious gangster Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan) and enlists the help of two petty criminals, Jait (Amitabh Bachchan) and Veeru (Dharmendra). ). When Gabbar attacks the village, Jai and Veeru wonder why Thakur isn’t doing anything to help them. They soon learn that he has no hands and that Gabbar was the one who cut them off. Enraged by this, they redouble their efforts to help Thakur.
The on-screen update comes at a time when film buffs are reliving the magic of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar’s hit in their documentary series Angry Young Men.
Titled Angry Young Men: The Salim-Javed Story, the series explores their iconic journey in Indian cinema. It includes interviews with celebrities like Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Karan Johar, Amitabh Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and many more.
Directed by Namrata Rao, the three-part documentary is produced by Salman Khan Films, Excel Media and Entertainment and Tiger Baby.
