At Berlin airport instead of the previously used meters, completely new ones appeared. Their completely changes the way luggage is measured. The existing ones are a kind of “baskets” with five walls. The luggage was placed in them from above and even a heavy backpack or a large bag could fit.
Ryanair introduces new baggage measurement
Now it won’t be so easy. The new device is a shelf with two walls and a special contour on one of them. Because of this, it is no longer so easy to stay within a certain range. Bthe weight must not exceed the contour shown on the back wall of the measuring cup. Passengers can only place their luggage on the metal shelf and, if it is not between the lines there may be an additional fee. So there is no more filling.
What’s new is that there are measuring cups on top. the display connected to the scale lights up. Thanks to this, Ryanair staff can easily weigh each baggage also at the entrance to the plane, and not as before – only at the check-in counter – reports Fly4free.pl. According to Ryanair regulations at the price of a normal ticket we have the right to it a small carry-on bag not exceeding the dimensions: 40 × 25 × 20 cm or 55 × 40 × 20 cm in the Priority option.

The new device is currently only in use at Berlin Brandenburg Airport. However, it cannot be ruled out that this is a pilot project that will subsequently be used at other airports, including in Poland.
As Ryanair warns in its regulations, customers who bring oversized baggage (more than 55 x 40 x 20 cm) to the gate will be able to check in upon payment of a fee of up to 70 – 75.00 euros, i.e. PLN 334. Of course, this is just a fee for one flight. The price at the airport is 12 euros (52 PLN) per additional kilogram.
