RB Leipzig coach Marco Rose praised the fans of rivals FC St. Pauli despite their unfortunate draw with the newly promoted side. “It’s really nice here,” said the 48-year-old. “I’ve never had a trip to the stadium as RB where I didn’t see the middle finger,” Rose said of the bus journey to the stadium. “People don’t like us here and they show it in a subtle way. And I think there’s a certain class in that,” Rose said. “I noticed it very, very positively. That’s why the chapeau!”
St. Pauli fans criticize RB
However, before the match, Hanseatic fans criticized the club by putting up a large banner in the stands. Supporters said at half-time: “Regardless of whether they are fans or officials – RB Leipzig: Enemies of football!”
Hamburg’s newly-promoted side drew 0-0 with the Champions League side to pick up their first league point of the season, with Rose saying the local club “absolutely deserved” the point.
