There is no open fire, the State Emergency Service says.
In the kyiv region, there is now only one source of fire in the ecosystem: in the Vyshgorod region, peatlands are smoldering on an area of up to 2 hectares, there is no open fire.
This was reported by the press secretary of the SNS State Emergency Service in the kyiv region, Victoria Ruban, in Kiev24, commenting on the message of the capital’s authorities that “the probable cause of the temporary deterioration of air conditions is fires in the ecosystem of the kyiv region.”
“The reasons for the poor air quality in kyiv will be clarified by the employees of the relevant specialized services. As for fires, as of 6 am there was only one fire in the Vyshgorod region. There are smoldering peatlands for every 2 hectares, and there is no open fire,” Ruban said.
According to her, the situation there is under control. Now units of the State Emergency Service are working there to prevent the fire from catching fire again and to prevent it from spreading.
“There are no more outbreaks of fire in the Kyiv region at the moment, there are no fires in the ecosystems,” said the press secretary of the regional department of the State Emergency Service.
He stressed that the deterioration of air quality in kyiv occurs every year, precisely during this period. According to Ruban, it is impossible to predict how long such a significant deterioration of air quality in the capital will last.
“This is due to air masses, changes in day-night temperature conditions, when it is hot during the day and the nights are already cool,” he explained.
The representative of the State Emergency Service pointed out that it is very difficult to establish the cause of large-scale fires in ecosystems, but recent fires in the region showed that 99% of them are the result of human activity.
“According to statistics and experience, it is usually people who start fires in ecosystems. The situation is very simple: a person goes beyond the boundaries of his property, burns dead wood, dry branches, and the fire spreads very quickly. Dry grass spreads over large areas,” Ruban said.
According to the press secretary of the State Emergency Service, the peak of new fires in ecosystems usually occurs at weekends, when people go to their country houses, to their villages, burn dead wood and go out into nature.
“Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow are days off, so we are calling on all residents of the region not to smoke,” Ruban stressed.
As reported by UNIAN, air conditions in Kyiv have deteriorated significantly this evening.
The Kyiv City State Administration reported that at 7:00 a.m. an increase in the concentration of suspended particles (dust) in the air was recorded. It was noted that a possible cause of the deterioration of air conditions are fires in the ecosystem of the Kyiv region.
The operational duty officer of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of the region reported that the fire occurred in the Vyshgorod region.
