(Reuters) – Former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney said on Wednesday she would vote for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris and called Donald Trump a “danger.”
“As a conservative, someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I’ve thought about this deeply, and because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, I’m not just voting for Donald Trump, I’m voting for Kamala Harris,” Cheney said at an event at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, according to a video posted to the social media platform X.
Cheney supported Trump’s second impeachment for his role in the 6 in the January 2021 robbery of Trump supporters at the US Capitol and served as vice chairman of the House committee that investigated the attack.
Cheney lost his seat in Congress when Trump endorsed his opponent in the 2022 Republican primary.
