00:01. Syrski: Our offensive in the Kursk region is bringing results
The Supreme Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, General Oleksandr Syrski, said in an interview with CNN on Thursday that Kiev’s offensive in Russia’s Kursk Oblast is bearing fruit. He stressed that there have been no Russian advances in a key sector of the Eastern Front for six days.
In the last six days, the enemy has not advanced a single meter towards Pokrovsk. In other words, our strategy is bearing fruit.
– said Syrski.
According to Syrski, Russia planned to launch a new offensive against Ukraine from the Kursk Oblast even before the start of operations by Ukrainian forces in this region.
This operation reduced the threat of an enemy offensive. We did not let them act. We moved the fighting to enemy territory so that the enemy would feel what we felt every day.
– he said in an interview with CNN.
As he noted, the offensive in Kursk Oblast “significantly improved the morale of not only the army, but the entire population of Ukraine.” He added that the Ukrainian army noted a decrease in shelling and the intensity of fighting in eastern Ukraine.
Of course, the enemy concentrated his best-trained units in the Pokrovsk area. But we deprived them of the ability to maneuver and send reinforcements from other sectors.
– he said.
The Pokrovsk sector remains the most problematic for us, but the situation has stabilized in other areas. So I think the strategy was chosen correctly and will bring us the desired result.
– he said.
In turn, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his evening video address that Ukrainian troops are holding their positions in Kursk Oblast “and with every day of the operation we are proving to the world that Russia can lose this war.”
On Thursday, Vladimir Putin said Russian forces were beginning to push Ukrainian soldiers out of the Kursk region.
According to Putin, the Ukrainian offensive was intended to slow down Russian activities in Donbass, but it had no effect and only weakened Ukrainian forces in all directions. Putin assured that Russian forces are successfully advancing towards Pokrovsk, which is an important supply hub for Ukrainian troops in the region.
