00:01. President: Thanks to the Kursk operation, we have more than 600 prisoners to exchange for our soldiers.
Thanks to Operation Kursk, we captured more than 600 Russian prisoners of war who can be exchanged for Ukrainians held captive in Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday during a meeting with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof in Zaporizhia.
The foreign exchange reserves (of prisoners) are being replenished and (these) exchanges have already begun. It did not happen just like that. The exchanges began because we have someone to exchange for our boys who are in (Russian) captivity. We have captured more than 600 people and we have someone to exchange our people.
Zelensky said at a joint press conference with Schoof.
The President assessed that the occupation of part of the Kursk Oblast of Russia by the Ukrainian Armed Forces may affect the situation in the most dangerous sections of the front, around Pokovsk and Toretsk in Donetsk Oblast. He concluded that “de-escalation is possible by reducing the number of Russian troops (in these sections).” The head of the Ukrainian state reported that the Russians have not made any progress in the Pokrov section for two days.
Zelensky revealed that he had spoken with Schoof in Zaporizhia, among others, about expanding the fleet of F-16 aircraft, which the West recently began transferring to his country. The Netherlands, together with Denmark, Norway and Belgium, have pledged to supply Ukraine with 60 of these machines.
In our talks today with the Prime Minister, we discussed, among other things, how to increase our defense against Russian terrorism and bring a just peace closer. The main issues are air defense, the supply of Patriots, missiles and the increase in our F-16 fleet. We have ideas for this.
– he declared.
The president also announced that Ukrainian intelligence provided Prime Minister Schoof with data on Russian missiles used to attack his country and made from Western components.
Today our intelligence, our military intelligence services provided all the necessary information to the Prime Minister (of the Netherlands) and his team – which missiles Russia uses daily and how many Western components they contain (…) from various companies and countries of the world, American and European
– Zelensky emphasized, quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
