00:03. Zelensky: The situation on the front near Pokrovsk is “extremely difficult”

The situation around Pokrovsk and other sections of the front in Donetsk Oblast is “extremely difficult”; Russian troops are concentrating their main efforts there, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after talks with Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrski.

There was a report from the commander: Pokrovsky and other directions in the Donetsk region. It is extremely difficult there, where the main Russian efforts and largest forces are concentrated. What is very important now is the steadfastness of each of our units and our ability to destroy the occupier.

Zelensky emphasized.

Russian troops are currently about 12 km from Pokrovsk, a major transport hub in Donetsk Oblast in eastern Ukraine.

The commander (Syrski) also reported on the operation in Kursk Oblast (Russia). We continue to increase our control in some areas near the border with Ukraine. Today, as every day, we are replenishing our resources for the exchange of prisoners. (…) This is what will help bring back many of our people from Russian captivity.

Zelensky said.

He added that “we must also realize that all the tension we transfer to Russia means that they cannot exert even more pressure on our Donetsk region.”

The Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an offensive operation in the Kursk Oblast on Russian territory on August 6. The territories of present-day Russia have not been occupied by foreign armies since World War II.
