00:01. A gas platform with Russian troops was attacked
Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk said on Saturday that Ukrainian forces carried out an attack on a former gas platform containing Russian military equipment and personnel.
A Navy spokesman said enemy forces used this location to manipulate the GPS signal to create a risk to civilian shipping, including the operation of the so-called grain corridor, the Ukrainska Pravda website wrote.
Plenchuk announced on social media that half a day before the Ukrainian attack, the Russian military transferred military equipment and personnel to a platform in the Black Sea. There were no civilians on site and the platform was not fulfilling its original function.
The decision to carry out the strike by naval and military intelligence forces (HUR) was taken to ensure the safety of civilian shipping, he added.
The spokesperson later deleted his social media post on the matter.
