00:01. State of emergency in Kursk region, attacked by Ukrainian forces
A state of emergency was declared in the Kursk region on Wednesday, the region’s acting governor Alexei Smirnov announced on the Telegram channel.
The information appeared on the second day of the attack by Ukrainian forces on the Kursk Oblast area, located on the border with Ukraine.
Helicopter fighting is taking place on the border, Russian news agency TASS reported.
Earlier on Wednesday, Smirnov reported on the missile threat. He said several thousand people had been evacuated from the border region, all mass gatherings had been cancelled and blood donation campaigns were being organised. Despite this, he added that “the situation in the region is under control”, Lithuanian broadcaster LRT reported on its website.
