President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum commented that the Spanish Crown’s refusal to apologize for grievances in the Conquest was not a complaint against President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, but rather against Mexican people.
“When the Spanish crown was rejected, not only did the pardon embolden the people, it did not humiliate them, it also emboldened them. And furthermore, there was no official response to the president of the Republic, the representative of the Mexican people, it turned out to be an insult not only to the president, but also to the Mexican people.”he stressed.
