Following the first teaser, Realme has set a debut date for its 300W wired charging technology. The company will reveal the technology on August 14 at a special event in China.
The “technological breakthrough” will be the next step after the 240W power launch in February 2023, but for now, it’s unlikely we’ll see it in a phone.
Xiaomi Redmi announced a similar technology that can charge a smartphone from 0 to 100% in less than five minutes, but it’s been almost 18 months since its unveiling and we’re still yet to see it in any device available for sale.
Realme currently holds the record for the fastest charging for a commercial smartphone—the GT Neo 5 launched in China with 240W fast charging, and later launched internationally as the Realme GT3. The company promised 0-100% in under 10 minutes, and our real-world testing wasn’t much different—1-100% in 11 minutes and 16 seconds.
Realme’s announcement, which is expected to take place next week, coincides with the 828 Realme Fan Festival (28.08, which was August 28, 2018, when Realme launched its first smartphone as an independent brand).
