The iPhone 16 series was unveiled by the company earlier this week at its latest hardware launch event, and Apple’s latest phones feature a dedicated touch button called “Camera Control” that lets users quickly launch the camera and tweak various settings before taking a photo. A week before the iPhone 16 series is expected to go on sale, Chinese smartphone maker Realme has already teased a similar button coming to its upcoming smartphone offering similar functionality.
Realme Unveils ‘Camera Control’ Button Clone
In a video posted to Weibo on Friday, Realme Vice President Chase Xu shows off a new dedicated camera on the unannounced smartphone. The executive shows how users will be able to press a button to launch the camera. Once the camera is loaded, the same button will allow users to zoom in and out, and press it again to take a photo.
While it has been confirmed that a camera control button will be featured on an upcoming phone, it won’t be the Realme GT 7 Pro. At least that’s according to the executive, who denied reports suggesting that the company’s next flagship smartphone will feature a touch button, just like the iPhone 16 series.
This isn’t the first time Realme has taken inspiration from Apple-inspired features. Last year, the company launched the Realme C55, a budget smartphone with a software feature called the Mini Capsule that clones Apple’s Dynamic Island by displaying notifications around the selfie camera. The feature is limited to displaying step count, weather, and charging status, and doesn’t integrate with third-party apps.
While Realme has confirmed that the upcoming GT 7 Pro will not feature a dedicated camera button, there is still no word on which phone will include the feature. If the Mini Capsule is any indication, it could eventually appear on a mid-range or low-end smartphone.
