Radio Information Agency, commercial services of local radio stations

Our information shows that Radio Information Agency terminates commercial service contracts (so-called radio dailies) to smaller entities. – As we were told, “this is a decision of the president, dictated by financial reasons”. Commercial newspapers will disappear within weeks. The people who create them will receive other offers of involvement – explains Wirtualnemedia.pl, anonymously, one of the employees of Polish Radio.

He adds: “IAR journalists read news services consisting of dispatches and audio materials from the IAR system and an updated, ready-to-use daily was sent to customers, mainly small radio stations across the country that do not have the means to maintain their own newsroom. Thus, in addition to selling access to the message and the sound system, it was another source of income for IAR.

IAR withdraws from news service contracts

We were also contacted by Dariusz Mokwa, director of the local station Inne Radio, based in Głuchołazy. – As a small local station, we entered into an agreement with the IAR more than five years ago. On 5 August this year, notification letters were sent to all purchasing stations and were delivered to us on 9 August. In an informal conversation with a friend from the IAR, I found out that “we” are just over 20 stations that still purchase services today. We have not received any explanation or warning from Polish Radio. Therefore, more than 20 broadcasters in the country should immediately look for a service provider – Mokwa said in an interview with Wirtualnemedia.pl.

We asked Polish Radio to comment on this matter. – We looked for savings and unfortunately the production of these websites exceeded the profits we made. – explains Wirtualnemedia.pl, liquidator of Polish Radio, Paweł Majcher.

In December 2023, Radio Niepokalanów announced that it had stopped broadcasting news services produced by the Radio Information Agency. However, the station gave up on its own. – Due to the changes in public media that occurred on Wednesday, December 20, in order to ensure the reliability and impartiality of the information provided to you on Radio Niepokalanów, we have stopped broadcasting the news service previously prepared by the Radio Information Agency operating at Radio Polskie – it was written at that time on the website of Radio Niepokalanów.
