Qualcomm’s latest chipset is called the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, and it quietly appeared on the company’s website over the weekend. The new mid-range platform takes over from the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, as the company apparently forgot that there’s no second-generation version of the 4nm chip.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 brings improved AI performance for tasks like activity tracking and noise reduction during calls. The chip is really similar to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 with some improvements in the CPU and display departments.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is equipped with an octa-core processor – four 2.4GHz Cortex-A78 cores and four 1.8GHz Cortex-A55 cores, which matches the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2’s configuration architecture, but drops slightly in performance core clock speeds (the 7s Gen 2 runs at 1.95GHz). Another difference is that the 6 Gen 3 supports displays with a resolution of up to Full HD+ at a refresh rate of 120Hz, rather than 144Hz like the 7s.
Qualcomm has used the Adreno 710 GPU, and the chip supports both the older LPDDR4X and newer LPDDR5 RAM versions, but only UFS 3.1 storage. Connectivity support on the new chip also includes Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E.
In terms of the camera, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 can support a single 48MP sensor for continuous reading, dual 32MP and 16MP sensors, or take photos at up to 200MP resolution.
Qualcomm has not released an official press release about the chipset and we do not know when the product will be available to OEMs.
