“I’m really doing well. I passed the second cycle and I’m approaching the third. It improves our mood and makes us less tired. I took advantage of this burst of energy to come here and enjoy Rock in Rio. I’ll stay a while, but I’m coming,” he told Quem.
Preta Gil was also asked about his relationship with the festival and quoted his father, Gilberto Gil, as saying that his first participation in the event was 40 years ago.
“I came first [Rock in Rio] 40 years ago, I was 10 years old. My father played, sang, and he felt his presence here in 40 years of this important festival for us, it is a symbol,” he said.
He recalls moments from Rock in Rio and talks about Nina Hagen’s show and the performance of his father, Gilberto Gil, with his brother Pedro on drums.
“After that, he [Pedro] “He passed away, but we did a show in the last edition, where my father sang and invited me to participate with him, me and my son Francisco. Without a doubt, singing at Rock in Rio with my father and my family was history,” he said.
Preta Gil also discusses her current emotional evolution in her work: “I think I’m better emotionally and physically. I healed myself for the first time, and it was a very intense process of getting to know myself and taking care of myself. Today, I’m stronger. Even with the recurrence of cancer, I have better health, more energy.”
