A Post Office agent was temporarily suspended after testing positive for alcohol while on tour.
No, this is not the making of “Bienvenue ches les ch’tis 2″… A two-year “temporary exemption” has indeed been announced for the Post Office agent in Sillé-le-Guillaume (Sarthe). As reported by France 3, he was in fact “subject to a blood alcohol test that turned out positive at 0.22 mg of alcohol per liter of exhaled air” in March 2024. The case was heard by the summary judge of the Administrative Court of Nantes.
Postmen at odds
In his 36-year tenure, the postman regularly took “breaks from work in pubs with vehicles and clothing marked La Poste”, the judge recalled. But the man argued against his exclusion because it would result in “loss of income” and would prevent him from “benefiting from the ‘senior part-time adjusted’ scheme scheduled for the end of 2024”. He also said he did not harm the image of the Post Office.
The court ruled to deny the factor’s request but said he was not “prohibited from engaging in gainful activity” during his two-year exclusion.
