Polish Waters is concerned about seepage from the Mała Panew River dam

The head of the State Water Holding Wody Polskie, Joanna Kopczyńska, during the crisis meeting in Wrocław, said that the biggest problem currently is the seepage from the Mała Panew River dam in Czarnowąsy. “There is a high risk of flooding of the sewage pumping station and the nursing home,” she said.

On Thursday morning, during the crisis staff meeting in Wrocław, the president of Polish Waters, Joanna Kopczyńska, announced that as far as the level of the Oder is concerned, Wrocław currently lacks 26 cm to launch the Odra-Widawa canal.

She added that Wody Polskie is in contact with the city’s crisis office. If the water rises, we will activate it – she emphasized. She pointed out that there are two polders in operation in front of Wrocław.

Joanna Kopczyńska reported that the biggest problem is the seepage from the Mała Panew River dam in Czarnowąsy. There is a high risk of flooding of the sewage pumping station and the nursing home in Czarnowąsy, where people with disabilities, including children, stay. – she said, adding that Volunteer Fire Department units and 130 military personnel are on site.

The President of Wód Polskie explained that when it comes to the Mietków reservoir, there is a drop of water in the tank itselfwhich means that excess water no longer flows into it. As we anticipate this trend will continue, we will attempt to decrease the value of the airdrop – she said.

Joanna Kopczyńska highlighted that the Racibórz Dolny reservoir works normally, collects and retains water, and this water will not flow to Wrocław; its occupancy is approximately 65%. She conveyed this minor events such as damage or leaks occur. We operate everywhere and cooperate with all services – she assured.

As she mentioned, in Niechłów, two manholes on the backwater embankment are being sealed with sandbags, and on Tuesday the embankment was broken near the perimeter ditch, 20 meters from the mouth of the ditch on the Dąbrocznia River. She noted that the Rawicz water supervision staff, in cooperation with the crisis management center and services, took corrective measures.

Kopczyńska also reported that in the town of Stary Żagań in Lubuskie on Tuesday at approximately 4 pm, water broke through the riverbed and poured into the mine reservoirs. The tanks are overflowing and services have rushed to the scene.
