Police: The suspect’s motive was an argument with the woman

According to police, the man who reportedly set fire to two residential buildings in the city of Essen on Saturday had a special motive. The police said, “Initial investigations revealed that the 41-year-old man’s motive was his wife’s separation from him.” The Public Prosecutor’s Office will apply for an arrest warrant for the 41-year-old Syrian on Sunday, among other charges of arson and attempted murder. The man has already been reported for threats and property damage. He does not currently comment on these accusations.

According to information, the 41-year-old man was armed with high-speed weapons and stabbed. He specifically drove to the apartments and shops in Essen where the people who supported his wife lived. He deliberately set fire to residential buildings with the aim of killing residents and destroying homes with fire. According to the police, many people are still receiving treatment as inpatients in different hospitals. Two young children suffered life-threatening injuries due to smoke inhalation.
