As part of this project, the deputy minister assured, the documents necessary to obtain an environmental decision must be submitted to the Directorate-General for Environmental Protection in September 2024.
Container terminal in Świnoujście
At the Sejm, Marchewka presented updated information on the construction works of the terminal, highlighting its importance for the future of the maritime economy.
-In recent months, we have carried out many activities to bring the port of Świnoujście closer to receiving the world’s largest container ships. – the deputy minister emphasized.
In April 2024, the West Pomeranian Voivode issued a location permit for the investment, and in May, a contract worth PLN 10 million was signed to prepare a feasibility study and an environmental impact report for the approach road. Further agreements were concluded in August and September – they included, among others: ferromagnetic survey of the seabed at the site of the future breakwater and magnetic scanning of the bottom of the port basin.
Terminal costs in Świnoujście
The estimated cost of construction of the land part of the terminal, including access roads, is approximately PLN 1.2 billion. At the same time, the multi-year program allocated PLN 10 billion for the construction of a 70-kilometer approach road and PLN 2.5 billion for the construction of the pier.
Marchewka also mentioned other strategic infrastructure projects in Pomerania, including the construction of a quay for the first nuclear power plant in Poland. This kilometer-long quay will handle approximately 200 deliveries required for the construction of the plant.
Investments in offshore wind farms and port development
In addition to the works on the container terminal, Deputy Minister Marchewka discussed other important projects, such as the construction of an offshore wind farm installation terminal in Gdańsk, for which a construction permit has already been obtained. Investments in the development of service ports in Darłowo, Ustka and Łeba are another important step towards the development of the renewable energy sector.
The Deputy Minister also reported on investments in the development of railway infrastructure, which will support the transportation of containers from Świnoujście to southern Poland. In the coming years with KPO The project to modernize the Nadodrzanka railway line will be implemented. It is planned to eliminate capacity restrictions, which will allow trains to run on double tracks and facilitate the export of goods to our neighbors. The estimated cost of these investments is over PLN 200 million.
