The prosecutor’s office said the evidence supports charges against three Belarusians who, on May 23, 2021, forced the crew of a plane from Athens to Vilnius to make an emergency landing in Minsk, resulting in the illegal detention of 132 people.

The investigation showed that the takeover was caused by false information about a bomb, which forced the pilots to land. Cockpit recordings, black box data and crew reports were protected. Passengers were identified and witnesses were interviewed.

Charges against the head of the KGB

Evidence shows that the real goal was to arrest Belarusian opposition figure Raman Pratasiewicz, co-founder of the Nexta channel, which Belarusian authorities have recognized as a terrorist organization.

Charges were brought against Leonid C., Yevgenii T. and Andrey AM, however, due to their absence in Poland, the court issued temporary arrest for 3 months from the moment of arrest.
