According to Kaczyński, anyone detained in connection with scandals becomes a victim of persecution by the Tusk government. “In the case of Ryszard Czarnecki, it is no longer possible to blame anyone. He is the core of law and justice,” says Dominika Długosz.
Tusk organized the games
Let’s remember: it was a difficult week for a former MEP and one of the most important politicians of the PiS. First of all, there was the case of extortion of reimbursements for fictitious trips to the European Parliament worth PLN 203,000. euros (almost PLN 900,000). In total, Ryszard Czarnecki traveled 222,966 km – it is as if he had circled the Earth more than five times.
A few days later, he and his wife were detained by the CBA at Okęcie airport. The prosecutor’s office said that the suspects were charged with two counts each: paid sponsorship combined with corruption and money laundering. This was the Collegium Humanum scandal, which Newsweek has been writing about since 2022. Ryszard Czarnecki is supposed to be a key figure who helped create a network of universities selling diplomas on a large scale. How? We explain HERE.
On Friday, PiS chairman Jarosław decided to suspend Czarnecki as a party member. Mariusz Kamiński was supposed to convince him to do so. “Apparently, Mario knew more and enough for the chairman to be convinced,” one of the PiS politicians was quoted as saying by Gazeta Wyborcza.
Dominika Długosz: – This is a really serious story and a big problem for PiS. Kaczyński cannot distance himself from Ryszard Czarnecki – says the “Newsweek” journalist and recalls what the former MEP had in common with the PiS leader. – He was very close to the president for one simple reason: he had been in Brussels since 2004 and had been informing his colleagues ever since. He went to the president on Nowogrodzka Street and told him who was drinking wine with whom, who was going to the gym with whom. He visited the president at least once every two weeks – says Długosz.
Andrzej Stankiewicz adds that despite the image of a funny rogue that many people may associate with Czarnecki, he was involved in tough politics in PiS. “He brought into PiS, among others, Mateusz Morawiecki. He had a lot of influence and political influence on the president,” says Stankiewicz.
There is no doubt that Ryszard Czarnecki’s scandals benefit the current government. “Tusk needs these flowers. If something goes wrong, what could be better for anti-PiS voters than Ryszard Czarnecki’s scalp,” Andrzej Stankiewicz quips. And he adds: after all, all KO voters are overjoyed now.
Dominika Długosz: Are these the Olympics? Yes, they are. But there would be no Olympics if there were no competitors.
“It was enough not to steal,” says Andrzej Stankiewicz.
