Paris 2024. Polish Army medalists promoted
Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that this decision aims to value the enormous effort, determination and sacrifice made by athletes to win Olympic medals for Poland.
“Fighting in the Olympic arenas, our athletes bring great pride to our homeland. I have decided that all military athletes who win or receive a medal during the #Paris2024 Games will be promoted and specially distinguished. We will start with the wide level. Aleksandra Mirosław, of course, after completing the appropriate course!” – the minister wrote in his statement on Twitter.
The army was well represented at the Paris Olympic Games
Of the entire Polish team at the Paris Olympic Games, which consists of over 200 athletes, 80 are soldiers of the Polish army. Military athletes compete for medals in 15 sports, including: boxing, judo, canoeing, track cycling, athletics, archery, modern pentathlon, swimming, weightlifting, shooting, fencing, rowing, sport climbing, wrestling and sailing. They are members of the Central Military Sports Team, which, in addition to their sports duties, also learn to shoot and give daily physical education classes to military personnel.
