Parents fear their children won’t be able to cook basic meals when they leave home for college this month.
Research revealed that more than 40 percent of those surveyed said their offspring could not cook simple meals such as a roast dinner or lasagne. And one in four said their youngsters would be clueless when it comes to preparing student staples like soup and pizza.
One in 16 even admitted that it would be difficult for their children to prepare baked potatoes, beans on toast or boiled eggs.
Research by The Pizza Company also found that Welsh parents were most concerned about their children’s culinary skills, with 49 per cent saying they struggle with basic meals.
Parents in the North East of England were also dim-witted, with only four per cent saying they were confident in their children’s abilities.
