The design of the Oppo Find X8 has leaked for the first time, suggesting a completely new design for the standard Find X model. It’s unclear whether this new design will also be carried over to the ultra-premium Find X8 Ultra, but it’s nice to see a fresh, new approach, as the design of the Find X7 Ultra has been based on a reworked design of the Find X6. The leaked image shows a very similar design direction to the iPhone 15 Pro, which is very different from the unique design we experienced when we reviewed the Find X7 Ultra.
The image comes from Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, where a user posted what appears to be a spy shot of the alleged Oppo Find X8. Thankfully, the photo isn’t blurry and clearly shows the top half of the phone.
The phone appears to have received a completely redesigned design that is nothing like its predecessors. The upcoming Oppo Find X8 could switch to a flat design with beveled edges that look very similar to those on the iPhone 15 Pro. The sides appear to be made of metal (they could also be titanium) and in addition to the necessary microphone and speaker recesses at the top, there is also enough space for a three-step alert slider on the right side.
On the back, the LED is placed outside the camera module, like on previous models. The camera module doesn’t appear as raised as on the Find X7 Ultra, but much flatter. Inside the rounded, square camera module (a departure from the large cookie-cutter module), we can see three rear cameras. It’s unclear whether the back panel is covered in vegan leather or regular glass.
Another observation we can definitely say (but it’s not visible) is that Oppo has finally moved away from the idea of using curved 3D displays. The Find X8, given that it appears to have flat sides, will most likely end up with a flat display similar to Google’s new and recent Pixel 9 smartphones.
From what we know about the Find X8 series from an older report, the phones could be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC. Both phones could feature 1.5K+ resolution displays. The earlier leak also suggests that the Find X8 could feature a 6.7-inch flat display, while the ultra-premium model could feature a 6.8-inch micro-curved display. Another detail that has leaked is that both smartphones could feature 6,000mAh batteries. Oppo is expected to launch its Find X8 smartphones in October this year.
