“I think that if any of the Polish institutions decides to go to the Council of Europe, they will have the opportunity to respond to all these serious allegations,” Marcin Romanowski said on Polish television.
The former Deputy Minister of Justice commented on the words of the Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, who said during a press conference:
There is no possibility of withdrawing Mr. Romanowski’s delegation at this time.
Romanowski assessed the actions of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, Adam Bodnar and Szymon Hołownia against him, as “a disgrace”.
It is sad to say, but this is a total disgrace for the Prosecutor’s Office, the Minister of Justice and the Speaker of the Sejm. These people act as if they exist in an alternative reality. In terms of questioning immunity, they were about 20 years late, because that is when these regulations were created. (…) Then we had to protest, together with Russia. (…) When it comes to dismissal of a delegation, the Marshal himself admitted that there is no such procedure. Because if it were, a first-year law student would know perfectly well that this is a fairly simple way to get around immunity. (…) Perhaps the Marshal’s aides have not yet informed him about this

In this case, there was one thing that was important in the Marshal’s statement – “To avoid the impression that this is not a political issue”. But that impression is there and is confirmed almost every week. I also correspond with the Council of Europe. I hate to say it, but every week provides material for this communication. Last week, for example, an attempt to influence the jury regarding the indictment. Even lawyers who are completely on the opposite side of the political and ideological fence admit that this case alone is reason enough to win the case before the ECHR.

The deputy of Sovereign Poland also spoke about the political revenge against him.
All these political actions of a political revenge or political persecution nature, for example the brutal and illegal replacement of the district court management or the dismissal of the deputy chairman of the Warsaw-Mokotów District Court, also fall within the scope of this case.
