The police and the railway commission will explain why on Saturday, near the Trzebinia station (Lesser Poland Voivodeship), two fast passenger trains travelling in opposite directions were on the same track. No one was injured in the incident. These are trains from Żary-Lublin and Przemyśl-Zielona Góra. According to information from the press officer of the Chrzanów District Police Commander, subcomm. Iwona Szelichiewicz, driver of the Żary-Lublin train leaving the Trzebinia station, he entered the line where the Przemyśl-Zielona Góra train was traveling in the opposite direction.
As added by PKP PLK spokesman Karol Jakubowski, the driver of the Żary-Lublin train leaving Trzebinia station he didn’t stop at the traffic lightwho displayed the “stop” signal and stopped the train by means of radio stop. He also stopped a Przemyśl-Zielona Góra train traveling in the opposite direction.
Almost a thousand passengers
According to police data, the first of them was traveling approx. 600 passengers, the second – 390. Nothing happened to anyone. The police also reported that the train drivers and staff were sober. As reported by subcomm. Iwona Szelichowicz, the route between Krakow and Trzebinia was blocked until approx. 19, at which time the services ended.
