The name of the town of Solingen has been a symbol of far-right violence for the past 30 years. On the night of May 29, 1993, four neo-Nazi youths and young men between the ages of 16 and 23 threw an incendiary device into a house inhabited by people of Turkish immigrant background. Two women, aged 27 and 18, and three girls, aged 12, 9 and 4, were killed, along with 14 other family members.
